TL;DR. SmilingPDF processes your PDFs entirely in your browser. We do not upload, store, transmit, or read the contents of your files. We collect only the minimum information needed to run the site.
Your files
Every PDF tool on SmilingPDF runs client-side using WebAssembly and the Web APIs built into your browser. When you drop a file, it is loaded into memory on your device and processed there. Nothing is sent to our servers.
When you close the tab, the file and any output are discarded. We have no copy.
What we do collect
We use privacy-respecting analytics to understand which tools are popular and where the site is slow. This data is aggregated and does not identify you personally. We do not fingerprint your device, sell data, or share it with third parties beyond the analytics provider.
If you subscribe to premium, our payment processor (Stripe) receives the information required to complete the transaction. We do not see or store your card details.
Cookies
We use a small number of first-party cookies and localStorage entries to remember your theme preference, premium status, and recent tools. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies for cross-site tracking.
